Mr. Holstein began his career at RBS Greenwich Capital in August 2004 in the Real Estate Finance Group. His focus was on the origination, underwriting, documentation, closing and securitization of commercial real estate loans collateralized by hotel, office, industrial/flex, retail and multifamily assets.
In 2008, Mr. Holstein began covering RBS’ REIT clients, providing restructuring strategies designed to deleverage their balance sheets, reduce their cost of capital and lengthen maturity profiles.
In 2009, Mr. Holstein underwrote more than $1 billion of commercial real estate loans in preparation for RBS 2010-MB1, the first new issue multi-borrower CMBS transaction sold in more than two years post financial crisis. He also constructed and maintained RBS’ CMBS conduit and large loan underwriting and pricing models. During his time at RBS Greenwich Capital, Mr. Holstein closed more than $1 billion in commercial real estate loans and underwrote more than $20 billion of loans.
Mr. Holstein left RBS in October 2010 to start Foresight Mountain Capital, a commercial real estate service company focused on providing debt and equity financing, acquisition/disposition advisory and workout advisory. While at Foresight, Mr. Holstein worked on over $800 million in transactions.
From March 2012 through July 2014, Mr. Holstein served as Senior Vice President at HVS Capital Corp where he was primarily responsible for the origination and placement of hotel investment sales and mortgage, mezzanine and preferred equity financing. During his tenure at HVS Capital, Mr. Holstein closed transactions totaling approximately $470 million.
Mr. Holstein is a licensed real estate salesperson in New York and Colorado.
